2012 Favorites

2012 was a great year. I took a lot of chances and tried using several new materials. I really tested my skills. I found out I have a lot of lofty gorgeous ideas and one day I will be able to create a few of them:)

Jewelry is still a learning art form for me, but I do have many pieces I am very proud of from this past year.

I learned that using blister pearls required stretching the imagination.

I learned that sometimes the simpler a piece, the better. Especially if it brings happy and warm memories.

I learned that I am really bad at making simple knots. Really bad. Glad I was never a girl scout.

I did not finish this project.

I learned that unusual beads can be beautiful.

I learned that sometimes when it takes forever to finish a piece, it can turn out as well as you hoped.

I learned that you have to get color ideas from others or else you make the same color combos over and over.

I never would have thought of this myself!

I learned that sometimes you have to give up what you love to find other things you can grow to love more.

I learned that when I put my jewelry out there, I will be judged. I can absorb the good. I can learn from the bad. I can learn to ignore the mean, but that will be a lesson for 2013.

I wish all of you the very best New Year, well wishes, positive feedback, positive change, and welcome you to open your mind to trying new things.

Happy New Year!

  1. I love the garnet and blue flower bracelet: would love to see it in real life to judge whether or not it holds up to the picture! I, too, hope to learn to ignore the mean in 2013. I’m almost there! Take care – and Happy New Year to you!

  2. I think my favourite is the garnet and blue flower bracelet – so elegant and pretty. Happy New Year to you Rachel and I hope 2013 is wonderful for you and your family xx
